Cafe Joie

There's this little cafe by Metrotown and it's so cute. The interior is seriously goals, especially with the mason jar water dispenser! For some reason I often see Korean students coming here to study. I guess nowadays coffee shops are the new libraries.

A must-try here are the waffles. It tastes as good as it looks!! *drools* You know my obsession with matcha hehe. The green tea ice cream is amazinggg and it's perfectly paired with almonds and chopped strawberries.

Despite how cute their macarons look, I wouldn't recommend them. The inside is filled with butter, whereas I'm more accustomed to a jam filling. The shell is great though. But yeah, come for the waffles and drinks, not their macarons.

Visit their website here.

Can't wait until the next time I come back!

Burgoo

Last week, I went to Burgoo for the first time ever with my friend Chloe. She kept raving about how amazing the food is and was dying to take me there. Our schedules finally coordinated and thus, we were able to meet up :)

I ended up getting the butter chicken with a side of basmati rice while Chloe got the tastiest chicken sandwich and crab bisque. I was worried that the butter chicken would be spicy since I'm a wimp when it comes to spice but the server assured me that it wasn't; it's more of a rich flavour. He was right, it wasn't spicy at all! Chloe loves spicy food (hence the 2 bottles of hot sauce), so when she tried it she thought it was too bland for her liking. In the end, I wasn't even able to finish my dish due to how large it was.

Burgoo is well known for their comfort food. I definitely plan on coming back and trying their soups. What do you think of Burgoo? Any recommendations?
