Prom Nails

Last week, I got my nails done for commencement and grad/prom at Sun Moon Nails in Vancouver. I really wanted claws because I've never had long nails before but my friends and mom protested against it hahah

Originally, I wanted something like this but the nail technician said she wouldn't be able to do it since she doesn't have a small brush. =_=" I was like what kind of nail place doesn't have a variety of tools?? But I guess maybe the place doesn't specialize in designs.

My school has really strict rules about nail polish so I was only allowed to get a french manicure. I had a square french manicure for my 7th grade graduation but this time I wanted to try something different. However, I didn't think pointy or round nails looked good for french manicures so I was stuck on what shape to get ://

I asked the lady if I could get a squarely rounded shape but she said to not go inbetween 2 different shapes as it would look ugly. I secretly disagreed but in the end I got the pointy almond shaped nails. I also got a line of silver sparkles along the base of the white tip. She said she usually doesn't do this since its tedious but she would make an exception for me since it was for my grad.  At first, I thought it looked weird but it definitely grew on me.

I got acrylic nails. She had to polish my nails a looooot, like so many times. The drill looked like the ones you see at the dentist o_o But my mom loves this place because of how long lasting the nails are. However, the lady gave me a list of activities I should take caution with because the nails might break. Basically, long nails are for people who don't do any manual labour. It has been a week and I'm still getting used to these long nails. Everything feels different, especially when it comes to texting/typing/writing. I honestly don't know how people can live with super long nails. I probably won't keep these for too long due to practical reasons.

I do love looking at my nails though; the silver line feels like a piece of jewelery, which is saying a lot since I don't really care for jewellery. I don't even wear earrings anymore cause I keep on losing one piece of a pair. (does this happen to anyone else too??) I might as well get a cartilage piercing to make use of all the single earrings I have LOL.

I am super excited to have graduated high school though, especially since it means I'll be free from all the rules!! I wonder what kind of nail design I'll get next.

Do you have any suggestions? How do you care for your nails?

XX, Melissa
