4 Bargaining Tips

As the holiday season is coming, many of you may be going on vacations to countries that may not be as developed as Canada and America. For example, in China, bargaining is the norm. Here are some tips that I've learned from experience.

1) Set your initial price lower than what you're actually willing to pay
Chances are, the final price the vendor and you agree on will be higher than what price you initially state. Usually, it's the middle of what you want and what the owner wants. Thus, a lower starting price point means that the final price will be closer to what you actually want.

2) Don't bring out your LV wallet
Sellers will automatically think you're rich and have all the money in the world, including enough to pay a high price for their product. Even if you argue that your designer goods are fake, they'll automatically try to sucker you into paying more. Keep some change in your pocket, especially when pickpocketers or thiefs are common in a foreign country.

3) Walk away
This one's a classic. Walking away gives a sense of desperation to merchants, as they feel potential customers leaving. State your price. If a vendor doesn't give in, walk away and in most cases, one would break down, call you back and agree with your price.

4) Charm
I know this is pretty blunt and shallow but if you're cute and speak their native language, owners might be touched enough to give you a discount so get those puppy eyes working.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Since Mother's Day is coming up this weekend, I've decided to put together a list of last minute gifts for the #1 woman in your life. This is just a list of Mama Wong's personal favourites; remember that all moms are different and you probably know yours better than you think.J
Bonus: Sephora currently has a 3x the pointsfor beauty insiders on fragrances!

I got this for Mama Wong last year and she loved it

OTHER GIFT IDEAS:

Pay for your mom's next mani! Or even better, get them done together!
If you live in the Vancouver area, Mama Wong recommends going to Sun Moon Nails Spa. Her french mani lasts forever but it takes a while for the lady to do her nails :/ For a quicker appointment, Mama Wong also recommends Nails by Jenny.

A bouquet of flowers
Dad brought all these roses home last night. Aren't they beautiful? Visit my dad's business, Wing Wong Farm, to find beautiful flowers that are perfect for Mother's Day!
