Brown sugar pearls are all the craze in Vancouver right now, and this place is apparently the original creator of it! Xing Fu Tang just opened up and is notorious for their long lineups due to the small batches of pearls they make. What's interesting about them is that they stir fry their pearls with brown sugar from Taiwan instead of just simply boiling them.
The traditional Chinese decor inside is so cool! I love how they have Chinese fortunes too. You pick a stick that has a number on it and then go to the drawers and find your corresponding fortune. Hopefully I'll become rich enough to make the fortune become true haha.
We ordered their brown sugar pearl milk tea and the brown sugar pearl milk. The drinks were $5.50 and $6.50 for such tiny cups but to be honest, the drink was very rich so you didn't need a lot of it. They even flame torched the top for the brown sugar pearl milk! The pearls were of course very soft and chewy. Overall, I'd recommend the brown sugar pearl milk over the brown sugar pearl milk tea, as the tea had a very strong traditional Chinese taste that's not my preference.
My friends and I went at 7:45pm, and we only had to wait 15 minutes!! Which is incredibly fast, because after we got our drinks the lineup went out the door. I highly recommend going on a weekday or before the after dinner rush. The owner of the shop was so nice and considerate of the customers, trying to get everyone inside as it was raining and he didn't want them to be cold and wet. According to the owner, they're planning to expand and open more locations in Vancouver so look out for them soon!
For now, you can find Xing Fu Tang at 3432 Cambie St or on Instagram here.
Happy 2019!!

edit: they've changed their recipe and tbh I don't find it as good anymore in comparison to Jenjudan or Houcailei.
